Tomorrow is Earth Day. One very important day out of 365 days – in my opinion we should celebrate the wonderful planet EARTH that supports us EVERY DAY! To celebrate Earth Day I’m offering you a challenge! (Cause we all LOVE challenges right?).
I hereby CHALLENGE you to do ANY or ALL of the following:
- Put an “Out of Order” sign on the TV and leave it OFF all day. PLAY outside!
*The average person watches 21 to 25 hours of TV a week.
- Eat a meatless vegetarian or vegan diet.
*Livestock production is responsible for more climate change gasses than all of the world’s transportion (cars, trucks, trains etc).
- Buy NOTHING new!
*Canadian households spend $12 953 on “non-essential items” (excluded: shelter, household operation, transportation, health, education; household size is 2.5 members).
- Don’t drive ANYWHERE – walk, ride your bikes, rollerblade etc everywhere you need to go.
- Plant a garden.
- Find something to REUSE.
*In a lifetime, the average North American will throw away 600 times his or her adult weight in garbage. A 68 kg adult will leave a legacy of 40 825 kg of trash.
- Drink water from the tap instead of from a bottle.
What do you think? Are you up for the challenge? Give it a shot – oh and blog about it – I’d love to hear how you make out!
