Wow! Are we already half way through 2013? Time sure is flying by! It’s easy for me to feel like I haven’t really accomplished anything for the year, mostly because the last few months have been a bust due to injuries including a calcaneal stress fracture, perpetual stiff neck and a pulled hamstring from softball. But when I look back I realise that I actually managed to accomplish a few things in my quest to live active, eat healthy and enjoy life ….
I had some great training moments during the first 3.5 months of the year, which then led to some great races: My Ragnar adventure, The MEC Half Marathon (sub 2 hour finish!) and the Toronto Challenge 5k with my family.

I then got injured part way through this half of the year ” but the timing was ok because I needed to slow down and focus on studying for my CPPB exam:
I studied pretty much anywhere I could, including: the elliptical at the gym, and outside on some gorgeous weekends while supervising the kids on their bouncy castle:
I wrote my exam in mid-may and have been patiently anxiously awaiting the results ever since.
I tried a few new recipes including these lean turkey meat balls:
And this Greek Quinoa Salad recipe:
I also did a bunch of fun things including going dolphin and whale watching in Newport Beach:
and toured around San Diego:
Unfortunately I didn’t manage to snap a pic of the three of us together.
I then volunteered at Ragnar Niagara:
and I went to the New Kids on The Block concert in June with my BFF, Kimmy.
(We’ll be going again at the end of this month)
All in all it’s been a pretty amazing year ” I could have done without the injuries, but truthfully they’re a sign that I’ve been living by my mantra: Live active, eat healthy and enjoy life!
What great things have happened to you this year?
What goals do you have for the rest of 2013?
