Happy Wednesday everyone!
I took a few extra days off of writing this week in order to spend some amazing quality time with my family. We packed up the car EARLY Saturday morning and drove the kids still in their PJ’s up to grandma’s house to spend the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend in Ottawa (a 6 hour drive away). We had an amazing time with the in-laws and we got to spend some time with great-grandma too:
We also enjoyed grandma’s awesome thanksgiving cooking:
Nom nom nom!
I ‘m very thankful to have my health, and for my wonderful family and friends.
Because this week is a taper week, and I don’t have a lot of fitness planned (besides my race on Saturday), I want to share with you a story about persistence that has nothing to do with fitness ” though the same principle of persistence and consistency can be applied to exercise.
As many of you know, I ‘m a HUGE New Kids on The Block fan ” like a crazy huge fan. Like a bus stalking fan who goes to see them every time they come to town and even tries to meet them at after parties …
Jon & I (2008)
(Though I ‘m not crazy enough to go on a boat cruise with other crazy fans … yet).
So in June 2011 my BFF and I went to their concert as VIP’s and we got to meet them ALL! Jon (my favourite), Joe, Jordan, Danny and Donnie *swoon*.
Now included with the meet and greet package that we purchased from VIP Nation was a VIP New Kids T-shirt, boy shorts, bag … etc. When we arrived for our meet and greet with the boys we were informed by the VIP Nation staff that they did not have any T-shirts in our size left, so instead of giving us half a package, they would mail us our packages to us once the tour concluded. The tour concluded in August 2011 and I sent my first email to I Love All Access that month. I then sent an email asking for an update on our package of VIP goodies in February 2012. I then emailed them a few other times and tweeted to them. In June 2013 they finally replied to me asking me for my proof of purchase (order #). I sent them my order # and screenshot of the original receipt within minutes of receiving their email . SILENCE. I followed up at the beginning of July 2013 ” SILENCE again. My BFF emailed them at the beginning of October. Then FINALLY this past Friday we received the email we’ve been hoping for ” a UPS tracking # – the merchandise we had been nagging them for was finally on its way!!
Last night the UPS man arrived, knocked twice on my door, and dropped a box in my garden. I saw him scurrying down my driveway, and have found him throwing boxes in my garden before (remember my Saucony shoes?) so I knew exactly where to look for my package.
Lo and behold! Our persistence (and nagging) finally paid off!
Through nagging and perseverance, I finally own my first official New Kids on The Block t-shirt!
What would you attempt if you knew that you wouldn’t fail?
Have you ever had to fight a company to get a product that they had promised you?
