They say that the beat per minute of the music you listen to can help influence the speed that you run or move – in fact there are even some iPhone apps (such as jog.fm) that will help choose music from your music library and play them based on the speed that you want to run – how cool is that?! I tried the jog.fm app once, and unfortunately at that time, both the GPS app that I use to run (iSmoothrun), and the jog.fm app needed to be running in the foreground in order to work, so I had to choose one or the other. So I chose the iSmoothRun app, but I think that both of those apps have now been upgraded since then, and will play nicely together (I’ll give it a try on my next run and let you know, ok?).
My goal pace for my training runs is 5:45/km (though lately I havent been able to maintain that – perhaps it’s the heat?) so I’ve based my 5 favourite workout songs based on the combo of the fact that they have the correct bpm for my pace, and the fact that I LIKE the song and enjoy singing along to it (on my training runs I try to keep my pace at a point where I can somewhat sing along to my music).
So without further adieu – here are my 5 favourite workout/running songs:
- Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
- Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2
- Paradise City by Guns N Roses
- Price Tag by Jessie J
- Here We Go Again by Joey McIntyre
(Have I mentioned that I’m a HUGE NKOTB fan?)
Do you like to listen to music when you workout? What 5 songs inspire you the most?
