Happy Monday everyone!
I don’t know about you, but this how I’m starting to feel. It’s been a long, cold, snowy winter. Add a 2 week illness and there and you’ve got a Janice full of cabin fever. I am starting to get sick of being inside… Hurry up Spring!!
This week was fortunately much better for training than the last few weeks. My flu is gone (yay!) and I’m back to my regular routine.
On Tuesday, my run looked like this:
Pavement! I see pavement!
OK – not a lot of pavement, but enough to be able to pick up the pace and actually feel like I have a bit of speed left after losing a few weeks of training to the germies.
On Wednesday we got hammered by yet another snow storm. This time it dumped about a foot of snow making running and driving conditions awful. I worked from home, and went and did a quick weight workout with my neighbour at lunch time. I think I lifted too heavy though because I was still sore on Saturday.
My backyard – there’s supposedly a Little Tykes picnic table under all the snow.
Thursday was my lunch time spinning class with our really cute spinning teacher. He is some serious eye candy and makes spinning very enjoyable.
On Friday I ran outside at lunch and had a hard time digging through the snow. While the paths at the park have been cleared, they are still largely snow covered making it really hard to get any speed. My legs were working much harder than my pace revealed. Oh and did I mention it was cold out? The windchill was -21C.
Care for a rest?
On Saturday the temperature was hovering around -18C with a windchill of -25C so I sent a text to my neighbour to see if she wanted to run on the dreadmills at the gym instead. I have to admit that I also didn’t want to miss the Canada/Switzerland Women’s Olympic hockey game. I managed to kill two birds with one stone:
Olympic hockey and running – a match made in heaven!
Sunday was my day to rest, catch up on housework, laundry etc. Man I hate mount laundry!!
Total for this week: 18k
14 week total: 268k
Here is this week’s training plan:
Monday: 6k run at lunch
Tuesday: 8k run at lunch
Wednesday: lunch BodyPump class
Thursday:lunch spinning with super hot Craig (instructor)
Friday: 8k run at lunch
Saturday: long run day, 10-15k?
Sunday: Swing the kettlebells
The Chilly Half Marathon that I run every year is only in a few weeks and I have to decide if I’m going to register for it. It’s my favourite race, and I’m probably in better shape to run it than I was last year…. But not by much. Fitting it in around the kids hockey schedule is always tricky too – it means that hubby has to bring three kids to an 8:15 am hockey game. That said, it would be really sad to break a the three year streak in running this race. Decisions decisions.
All in all it’s been a great week despite the cold and snow and I can’t wait to attack this week’s training plan!
Have a great week everyone!
