I’m debating on whether or not to actually call this past week “training”. Don’t get me wrong – it started off great with an 8.25k easy run around the park on my lunch break in Monday. Tuesday I missed my run – I can’t even remember why, but seeing as most of my other excuses this week are work related, we’ll just have to blame it on that.
Wednesday, appropriately was the 13th, and I had one of those days where not much went right. Thankfully I was able to go home a wee bit early, so I opted to squeeze in the speed work that I was supposed to do on Tuesday. Long story short, I ended my 8k after just 5k and limped home. I strained/pulled my hammy.
Thursday I woke up with a full-on cold, which explained why I was so tired earlier in the week and went to bed every night at 9pm.
The rest of the week I rested.
By Sunday I felt a lot better, and was no longer limping, so I decided to try to go for an easy 5k run. Unfortunately my hammy had other plans and I could feel the sharp tightness as soon as I ran. I probably could have toughed it out, but why? I’d just end up fighting a hamstring injury for weeks instead of days, so I slowed and went for a 3k walk instead.
Even though I couldn’t run, being outside felt good and was a HUGE mood lift for me. I’ll have to remember that this week as running and bodypump may have to wait a week while I let my leg heal.
Total km this week: 16
2 week total km: 59
This coming week will be interesting – work will be super busy, which I hope keeps my brain off of the fact that I need to take some time off of running. I also downloaded a Sufferfest video to try on my bike with my indoor trainer.
Have you tried these videos before? Indoor cycling at home sounded kind of boring, and I can’t foresee me pushing myself hard enough to really call a ride at home a workout, so I’m hoping this will help. While out playing with Brooke on Saturday she convinced me to go for a bike ride outside with her, and I discovered that my hamstring doesn’t hurt at all while cycling!! Yay!
I’m not making a plan for this week except to allow my hamstring to recover and my cold to fully go away. I’ll probably get a few walks in and a few rides too.
Have a great week everyone!!
What’s on your training plan for this week?
PS – It’s our dating anniversary today! Hubby and I had our first date 19 years ago today, how awesome is that?
