Happy Tuesday everyone!! I’m home from work recovering from a nasty cold – fever, bodyaches, stuffy nose, sore throat and a dry cough. Please don’t feel sorry for me though, it’s a been over 16 months since the last time I had to take a sick day and that was for vertigo, so I guess I was due. I don’t get sick that often, and when I do I usually get over it rather quickly so I hope this time will be no different.
Last week was a cut back week in my training because my training volumes had become pretty high for me and because I was away for a girls weekend in Montreal. Illness is also one of my overtraining signs, so I think I progressed my training a bit too fast. We had an absolute blast on our girls weekend away and I plan to write more about that later this week. Training wise, I only did two workouts, a fast for me 5 miles on Tuesday at a 8:53/mile pace, and a hard spinning class on Thursday. According to the Argus app on my phone I also reached my 10,000 steps on Saturday and Sunday while sight-seeing around Montreal.
Total for this week: 8k
11 week total: 244k
I’m not sure what to plan for my training this week. I didn’t workout yesterday (though I did go for a walk with my co-worker at lunch), and today is a complete rest day. Tomorrow will also be a rest day. Perhaps Thursday I’ll be able to do a power walk on my lunch, then a short/easy 5k on Friday? I would love to be able to run 10k in Saturday if I feel up to it, and I’ll need a rest day on Sunday. I honestly don’t know what to plan, so I’ll play it by ear – I don’t want to rush back into it and end up fighting this cold for months on end.
Have a great week everyone!
