First off I have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the OrganWise Guys! I was first introduced to them in the summer of 2011 while I was on maternity leave when I was sent an OrganWise Guys kit to review. My girls LOVED the kit, the video and the workbook so much that I downloaded the OrganWise Guys iphone app:
Since then the girls have been singing:
“High Fibre, Low fat, Lots of water, and excercise!”
All.the.time. In fact, my oldest daughter started drinking water after watching the original video we were sent, and has greatly reduced how often she requests juice, so when I was asked to review the OrganWise Guys newest product: OrganWise Guys In The House! Kit – I said yes! Definitely!
Who are the OrganWise Guys?
The OrganWise Guys are fun and engaging characters based on the organs of the body: Hardy Heart, Sir Rebrum, the brain; The Kidney Brothers; Madame Muscle; Calci M. Bone; Peri Stolic, the intestine; Pepto, the stomach; Peter Pancreas; Luigi Liver and Windy, the lungs.
The OrganWise Guys connect with children through fun nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle education materials. They want kids of all ages to know their motto: “We love who we live in, so please take care of us!”
What is the OrganWise Guys In The House! Kit?
The OrganWise Guys In the House! Kit is a healthy behavior tracking program that helps families in their quest to become Ã…”OrganWise  by gradually adding healthy habits to daily routines. Kids engage in different OrganWise Ã…”Rules  for seven days while tracking their progress. At the end of the week, they will report their success and then await their reward that will appear the next morning.
As soon as my daughter Sierra saw the OrganWise Guys Kit on the counter she got right into it, and snuck the box and books up to her baby sister’s bedroom where I caught her reading:
When I was ready to introduce the girls to the OrganWIse Guys In The House! Kit, I gave each one of them their own book to work through for the week because we only had a week to review the material. Sierra chose to do the Madame Muscle In the House! ” Choose exercise book, Brooke chose the Hardy Heart In the House! ” Choose Low-Fat book and Amber did the Peri Stolic In the House! ” Choose High-Fibre book. The girls each had a great time reading the short introduction and story with me (Sierra, who is 7, could read her book on her own), and they liked doing the colouring project, and look and finds in each book:
I have to be honest, I really liked the kit too. It’s very clever and cute, and also teaches the kids great healthy habits for OVERALL HEALTH. I really like that none of it is about being skinny, or not fat. It doesn’t mention weight or size in ANY of the books, sending the same message that I’ve been trying to teach them – take care of your organs because they love living inside of you! Repeating each healthy habit every day for 7 days really made the girls consider that a random healthy meal doesn’t make you healthy and that healthy choices should be made all day long.
Sierra and Brooke had fun tracking their healthy habits, while Amber was too young for it, but she really enjoyed colouring on it each night:
At the end of the week I presented each girl with their reward – a cute, soft, loveable organ to represent their healthy choice:
