Ahhhhhhhh Mother’s Day, my favourite day of the year! A very special day that I get to share in honouring all the other amazing and inspiring women in the world who help in the often thankless job of raising children. It’s the one day of the year where my family demonstrates to me that all that I do is appreciated, and that they love me so very much. And this year I was absolutely spoiled! Here’s my Mother’s Day in pictures:
My Mother’s Day actually started on Saturday with the kids bringing me these chocolate covered strawberries and a coffee in bed:
(My goodness… why can’t every day start like this?!?)
Then on Sunday, I was spoiled again with breakfast in bed (coffee and a Nutella sandwich) and by these wonderful gifts made by the kids at school:
Then later in the day, I dropped off the girls with their presents for my mom at my parents new place in town. Did I mention that my parents moved to our town a few weeks ago? Man, it sure is convenient having family nearby to help out!
The girls hung out and entertained my parents for a few hours while hubby and I did some housework – we cleaned up the backyard in anticipation of opening the pool in a week or two, replaced the burners and grill on the BBQ, cleaned up the garage, and cleaned up a whole pile of recycling and junk we had cluttering up the house.
Later on I picked up the girls, and my parents came over for a nice Mother’s Day BBQ. My hubby made us a wonderful dinner, that was grilled to perfection!
Grilled chicken, grilled veggies, potato salad and coleslaw – yum!
Then for dessert we had these delicious two-bite cupcakes (I had two cupcakes )
And the best part of my day was the surprise flowers that my mom gave me:
(I wonder how long I can manage to keep them alive?!?)
All in all I had a fantastic Mother’s Day – a day that I really needed as I was feeling really bummed out about letting my family down with that whole job thing, and then there was that whole sprained ankle thing. My family showed me that none of those things mattered and that it’s the love we have for each other that’s the most special (though all the great gifts were a nice touch). When Brooke hugged me goodnight she held me really tight and whispered in my ear:
“You really are the best mummy in the whole world”.
No matter what happens in this world, I know that I have the love of my family behind me, and that gives me the strength to try anything. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend too!
