Since upping my iron intake I’m beginning to run into a problem with turtles. No, not the cute little turtles that live in a shell.
The other kind. If you’re a runner you may know the kind I’m talking about. Yanno, the ones that poke their head out in the first few km’s of a run forcing you to slow down because of how uncomfortable they are giving you a choice – either run back home and let the turtle out, or do a really slow and painful run. I thankfully have a Starbuck’s 3 km into my running route. 😀
MAF heart rate training is hard. I’m supposed to run at 145 bpm which for me is thankfully still a run (I’ve heard from others that for them it’s more of a fast walk), but I want to RACE every.single.run. I basically want to have my run end as fast as I can so I can get back to all of my various obligations.
I’m really enjoy riding my indoor trainer by myself. This week I ran twice with my co-worker (Hi Mary!) and with my best running friend Juliette, but I also like to be by myself occasionally so that I can stay in my own pace (aka SLOW) for the MAF training. I also like the time to zone out and think.
I started hill training this week (I know that contradicts the MAF training) but I’m kind of doing this pseudo MAF training as I’m already past the “Endurance” phase of my Around the Bay training. I really get a huge endorphin rush from running hills and I must be psychotic or something because I actually ENJOY hill training.
I’m officially done with winter. The cooler temperatures and running through the occasional dusting of snow was a nice change from the heat and humidity of summer. I am now ready to send winter back to the arctic. I saw a TV commercial for a Sandals Beaches resort and almost booked myself a solo trip somewhere south so I can run through the sand in the sun on a beach.
What runfessions do you have from this month?
