Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fabulous week & weekend!
My week was full of memory making moments. Because summer is nearing the end, I decided to take last week off from work for a staycation to spend some time with my daughters. I’d like to say I did a lot of working out too, but that would be a lie. I only managed to fit in two runs + 1 kettlebell workout. Instead of focusing on working out I spent my week off making precious memories with my daughters that hopefully we’ll cherish forever (I know I will).
On Sunday night I tore off 16 pieces of paper – I gave 4 pieces to each of my daughters and I kept 4 pieces for myself. On those slips of paper we wrote out 4 things we wanted to do during our week together. We then folded our slips of paper and threw them in a bowl. The girls took turns pulling out the paper slips and worked together to create an agenda of things for us to spend our week doing.
We unfortunately weren’t able to do everything on our list, but we certainly had fun making memories doing the things we did do.
We “camped by the lake”:
Spent two days at Burlington Beach – day 1 was just the four of us where we built sand castles, went for a walk along the board walk and ate ice cream:
And day 2 at the beach I took my daughters’ friends with us and we watched the ships coming in and out of the harbour:
We went to Canada’s Wonderland:
Where I introduced the girls to funnel cake (omg – yum!):
And had a lunch date at Boston Pizza (and took the time to make silly paper hockey helmets) then went for haircuts:
Then on Friday my in-laws came down from Ottawa. On Saturday morning they packed up the girls and took them home to spend a week of their own making memories with them in Ottawa.
After the girls left I went to the mall to find a dress to wear to my friends Christine & Steve’s wedding. Dress shopping was a frustrating experience, but it was all worth it though because I had an amazing time at the wedding:
(so many awesome desserts!)

This week hubby and I are without kids! While we’re both working this week, we’ll still have lots of time to be together. Today we went out for breakfast, went for a swim together and spent some time organising some stuff around the house to switch over to the hockey sports season. We also got caught up on yard work. By getting this stuff done today we’ll have the freedom to go out on dates after work for the rest of this week – movies, dinners, walks & some shopping for housewares (such an exciting couple we are).
My fitness plan for this week looks like this:
Monday: 8k morning run + coaching Brooke’s softball practice
Tuesday: Kettlebell workout
Wednesday: 8k morning run
Thur: Kettlebell workout
Friday: 8k morning run
Saturday: Rest – kids back from grandparents!
Sunday: Run + Kettlebell workout
This week I’m going to try REALLY hard to do ALL of my planned workouts. While the few pounds I lost are staying off (thank you salads!), I want to start a genuine effort to get back to where I was weight-wise last summer after Ironman 70.3 Muskoka.
Do you hate dress shopping too?
