Happy Monday everyone!
I started writing this post earlier today but wasn’t in the right frame of mind, so I did what usually helps me the most, I did a workout. Unfortunately my sprained ankle isn’t ready to run on, though it’s getting close, so I did a workout from DailyBurn (a streaming service of workout videos) instead. I felt a million times better, but I’m stilled pretty bummed about the ankle. It is slowly getting better – the swelling has gone down, and so has the bruising and pain, but it’s not quite ready for me to run on it, which has made me MRS GRUMPYPANTS (all in caps because I’m really that grumpy).
This past week my fitness consisted of three Dailyburn kettlebell workouts at home in the living room, plus one bodyweight one. The ankle can handle standing in one place swinging the kettlebell or power pressing it, but not any jumping yet. They workouts were ok, but usually my workout time is my “me” time, my alone time. Having the kids constantly interrupting and even wanting to join me was super annoying (insert another grumpy cat meme here). I have not been a nice person to be around and I can’t wait to run again.
Which brings me to this week’s recovery plan, where I hope to return slowly to running so that I can eventually run again with my running friends (though truthfully not having to get up at 5:30 this past week was really nice).
Monday: Dailyburn DBK6 workout (kettlebell workout)
Tuesday: Dailyburn DBK4 workout (kettlebell workout)
Wednesday: BodyPump at Goodlife at lunch + Dailyburn Yoga workout in the evening
Thursday: Will try a lunch time 5k run (run 5 min, walk 1)
Friday: CXWORKX workout at lunch at GoodLife fitness
Saturday: Hopefully a short solo run (in the daylight!!)
Sunday: recovery day 🙂
Nutrition-wise I’m doing well. This week I started a friendly challenge for the month of March with my co-worker. We both put $5 in an envelope and are both logging our meals with myfitnesspal (feel free to follow me). At the end of the month the person with the most days that they were under their calorie goal wins the envelope of money ($10). I love having the camaraderie of working towards my goals with a friend. According to my scale, I’m down 0.7lbs (7 day average for the week).
All in all, I’m looking forward to slowly chasing the grumpies away and getting back to running.
Have a great week everyone!
