Happy Monday everyone!
As you may have guessed from my lack of posting things around here in the fitness cheerleader have been quite busy lately. I could whine about hockey, swimming, softball, blah, blah, blah, but in all honesty I LOVE how busy this family is, though admittedly by the end of the day I can’t string together coherent paragraphs so I haven’t even tried. We are all well and healthy and happy. The girls are even winning way more hockey games than they lose!!
Fitness wise, despite my lack of posting here, things have gone well. I’ve been committed to my new routine and am finding that I feel so much stronger in my Friday CXWORX™ (Core) class at GoodLife Fitness. I can hold a plank longer (yay) and stop less often to recover in the class. Hooray for progress!
Sweaty and happy after an awesome kettlebell workout at home.
Which brings me to the purpose of this week’s post….
My February Goals!
As I mentioned at the beginning of January, this year is about the word LIFT, and as time goes by that word has begun to take on even more meaning. It’s even begun to be about being LIFTED, spiritually, which is a unique concept to me. I’ve never been one for yoga or the mind-body connection, but as I began chasing strength and LIFTING, I found myself going to a Body Flow yoga class during my lunch break on Mondays. I wanted the strength and balance that the class offered, but ended up falling in love with being connected to my whole body and my mind – after the class I feel LIFTED, maybe even UPLIFTED and ready to take on my day and the rest of the week. I’m telling you this because this is the basis for my February goals.
In no particular order, here are this month’s goals:
- Practice yoga twice a week.
- Run three times a week.
- BodyPump once a week
- CXWORX™ once a week.
- Cycle on my trainer once a week.
- Eat more protein.
So here’s the weekly fitness plan:
Monday: BodyFlow Yoga at GoodLife Fitness
Tuesday: 4 mile run + core workout
Wednesday: BodyPump at GoodLife Fitness
Thursday: 4 mile run + core workout
Friday: CXWORX™ at GoodLife Fitness + Skating with the kids after work
Saturday: 45 min indoor trainer cycling + DailyBurn Yoga workout
Sunday: Long run
For the protein goal, I plan to do that with Premier Protein shakes. I was sent a case of Vanilla shakes to try (oh my goodness, so yummy!) and I picked up a case of chocolate shakes from Costco (they’re available in Costco stores throughout Canada from January 10th through April 3rd ). The 30g of protein in them is exactly what I need for a mid day snack at work.
160 calories, 1g of sugar, low fat, 24 vitamins and minerals, 30g of protein!
So much protein!
I like that with these I don’t have to mix my shakes up at work because admittedly that was rather messy and I never ever remember remembered to take my shaker bottles out of my gymbag so by Friday I had like 4 smelly gross shakers in there… yuck!!! I even tried mixing it with a banana and a handful of frozen strawberries in my blender… AHmazing, and again, NOT MESSY!!!
I can and I will! Set a goal, make a plan and go for it!
Have a great month everyone!
