Wow! What an incredible weekend! The weather here was absolutely GORGEOUS! Perfect for my #dosomething everyday in in May streak (I’d love to have you join me for the rest of May – there are still 23 days left!).
There was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to take advantage of the weather, so on Saturday I slipped out for a run after I put the baby down for her nap. I originally wanted to run 5k but as I passed the 2k mark my Nike+GPS told me I was chugging along at a comfy 5:40/km pace…. Hmmmm… Perhaps I can crank out 10k in less than an hour?
I ran as hard as I could for as long as I could (I haven’t ran longer than 10k since I was 9 weeks pregnant with Amber). It’s been a whole year since I’ve had a really GOOD run. Yanno, one of those runs that leave you feeling elated (but sore) for the rest of the day.
I ran and I ran and I ran. I paced myself and picked out my route perfectly – Nike+ told me I hit the 10K mark right as I stepped foot onto my driveway – 59 minutes and 46 seconds – just under the one hour mark!
Sunday was a very busy day – I almost didn’t have time to fit in my 20 min of exercise. Yikes! How could I blow my #dosomething streak so early in?
The day started off with a nice Mother’s Day breakfast in bed with my 3 girls that my hubby made for me. Afterwards I took the two youngest with me to get gas, a coffee, then grocery shopping for the week. By the time I got home and finished unpacking the groceries it was 1 pm! My dad then called to say that he and my mom were on their way to visit for Mother’s Day. I quickly had lunch, wrapped my mom’s gift, folded all of the laundry and nursed Amber. When they arrived I gave my mom her present (some crafting stuff from Michael’s ’cause she REALLY likes to craft, me? not-so-much). Then my parents took Sierra and Brooke to the park while hubby and I put together the new bunk beds we got for the girls. (That took close to two hours!).
Hubby then made an INCREDIBLE Mother’s Day BBQ for us:
- baked potato
- caesar salad
- veggies grilled on the bbq
After dinner we all played with Amber, then had nummy mini cupcakes for dessert:
After my parents left and the kids were snug in their new bunk bed I FINALLY had time to slip in a quick workout. My mind wasn’t really in it, so I did the Nike Training Club Ab Burner Workout and repeated the first 5 min of it to make it 20 min. OUCH! My abs will scream at me tomorrow!
8 days down and still going strong! I’m having a blast with this challenge, and I’ve found myself working harder because of it – for instance, there is no way I would have worked out tonight after the busy weekend I had – wouldn’t you like to join in?
