Hey everyone!! How was your weekend?
Mine was busy busy busy – but productive! I FINALLY got around to purging our house of all the baby stuff: a box of infant shoes, 2 boxes of baby clothes, toys, 2 exersaucers, 2 push toys, the high chair, and our extra crib are all ready to be given away! It feels amazing to be getting rid of that stuff! We decided when Amber was born that three was enough kids for us, and since then we haven’t wavered on that. Someone wise once told me that when you’re done you’ll know it. Well we’re done.
This past week I also got my workout mojo back. My weird fever/dizzy/fatigue thing is gone and I got out for some great runs over the past two weeks, including a 9k run a week ago. Like the purging, being back feels great!
Ok, so I didn’t run everywhere I wanted to go, though that would be my dream – to run to work, to run home, to run to the store etc. But I have been a lot more active than I had been in the past few weeks. I’ve also begun to get my eating back on track. I went to the grocery store and loaded up on all of the ingredients for my strawberry/banana/spinach protein smoothies and have had those for breakfast the past four days:
- 1 cup almond or skim milk
- half banana
- 1 handful fresh baby spinach
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (can be whey protein or pea protein)
- Combine all ingredients in the jar of a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth.
- Pour into glasses and serve.
I find that if I start with a GOOD breakfast I can focus better in the day, and have more energy for my lunch workouts.
I also discovered an AWESOME bed time snack alternative this week:
I love love love chips. Quite often, I sit here on my couch typing out my blog posts about being healthy and what-not while eating potato chips. Ironic, I know. So when I found this box waiting for me I couldn’t wait to rip into them:
Oh-em-geee! These are good! Even my oldest daughter, who doesn’t like apples liked them! Apple Chips come in four flavours: Original, Caramel, Cinnamon and Mixed Berry and are all-natural and are GMO FREE! We tried the Original first and really liked them. Then yesterday we tried the Cinnamon and Caramel ones with my parents. We all liked them a lot, but were in agreement that if they were a little more thinly sliced they would be THAT much closer to being a great chip alternative. That said, guess who’s happily stuffing her face with them while she writes this post? Yum yum yum!
Monday: Thanksgiving Day – 7hr drive home from Ottawa (no workout)
Tuesday: Busy work day – short lunch so I couldn’t run, but I did manage to do a 30 min Kettlebell workout after the kids went to bed
Friday: Showed my co-worker a basic full body strength circuit at the gym (I’ll share it in a post later this week).
Saturday: 5k run on the track at the sports centre while the girls were in gymnastics, cleaned and reorganized a good chunk of the house.
This week is a typical week in our house – school/daycare/work etc, with the exception of the weekend… I’m going to Blissdom Canada! I’ve never been to a blogging/social media conference before, so I’m pretty excited. I leave Friday night, and get to spend TWO nights away from my family. (Eeeek!). This week my plan is to get back to my “old” routine of spinning, running and BodyPump. then on Saturday I’m meeting up in the hotel lobby for a run with some of the other Blissdom attendees. I’m really looking forward to that – in fact that may be the high light of the conference for me.
Tuesday: 8k run
Friday: 8k run at lunch
Saturday: 5k run at Blissdom with
Sunday: Rest/Recover from Blissdom
I’m really happy to be back – not having any energy/motivation was hard on me mentally. Even though I’m not technically training for any races, it feels so amazing to be back into a routine.
Have a great week everyone!
How do you get your mojo back?
