In September of 2012 I hosted a Fitness Blogger Writing Challenge. I posted 31 topics for the month and invited bloggers to write about those topics. The goal was to encourage others to think about their health and fitness goals and how nutrition, exercise, goal setting, dedication and planning helps to reach those goals. I met some amazing people, including my friend Lisa of sheslosingit.net.
This past fall Lisa reached out to me to tell me that she had published a book called “She’s Losing It!: A quirky little memoir about weight loss, bodybuilding and dealing with small children” that included a mention of my writing challenge – I couldn’t wait to read it!
I love Lisa’s writing style on her blog and She’s Losing It! shares the same style and raw honesty about how hard it is to juggle it all, how hard it is stay focused on your goals, to work out hard and to stick to your nutritional plan. While Lisa’s goals are different from my own (she’s a body builder, I’m a triathlete) the juggle is the same and I found myself chuckling as I read through some predicaments that I have also been in along my healthy living journey (like when all of my old clothes stopped fitting and I had to decide whether I was committed enough to my new size to invest $$ and buy clothes in that size). Lisa’s book shares how she loses 50 lbs at age 38 and successfully transforms herself from borderline obese to entering her first bikini competition in a very raw, candid and humorous way. If you REALLY want to know what it takes to transform your body then this is a must read!
Here is the book trailer:
Lisa has provided me with an extra copy of her book to send to one lucky reader! To enter all you have to do is leave a comment sharing the most inspirational book you’ve read lately and complete the giveaway widget.
The contest closes on February 13, 2015 at 11:59 pm est.
