Wow – less than a week until my next half marathon… GULP! To say that I barely trained is putting it mildly. I think I managed only two long runs beyond 10k since last summer. Next week sure is gonna be interesting!
This past weekend and the weekend before were complete training busts. I was sick for both of them. Two weeks ago I had a chest infection and a fever. I’ll run through a stuffy head, but when my lungs are involved I completely rest. So rest is what I did (with the exception of some parent tot zumba)Then this weekend Amber gave me the plague. (Hey – it certainly felt like it!). She was up vomitting on me on Thursday night, then Friday night Brooke was up vomitting on me, and lo and behold – guess what I did all Saturday night? Ahhhhh – aren’t kids awesome?
They at least tried to make mommy better on Sunday morning:
By dinner I finally had the desire to eat, though I didn’t eat much. Sigh.
So this week is taper week, and a recovery from the
flu plague week. I think I’ll just do my normal workouts Mon-Thurs, then rest Friday and Saturday. I don’t know how else to plan this week ’cause this has probably been one of my laziest training attempts for a half marathon since I returned to running two years ago.
Monday: Spinning class at lunch
Tuesday: 6k run at lunch
Wednesday: BodyPump class at lunch
Thursday: 8k run at lunch
Sunday: Race day! 21.1k
When the pain of running past 10k hits my legs next Sunday, the Kelly Clarkson song “Stronger” will definitely keep me pushing on. (I’ve already downloaded it to my iphone). Question: What song keeps you going?
Have a great week everyone!
