In May, when I began sharing the things that I’ve been loving, I had originally planned on sharing things EVERY WEEK… Uhhhh yeah… That was a bit on the ambitious side, so I’m now going to try to do this every month, and probably towards the end of the month. I love sharing the things that bring me joy because it reminds me to be grateful and to enjoy everything, even the little things and little moments in life.
Yesterday, I really got a chance to try out my Indoor Trainer! It was pouring rain out all day, cold and miserable. Yanno, the kind of day that would make a 16k (10 mile) long run really suck. So I vetoed my long run idea, and set up the indoor trainer that my friend Julie was kind enough to through in with the bike I bought from her. I enjoyed being able to ride while hubby napped – it means that when we’re in the midst of a blizzard in january I can still get in some good training – a bike ride followed by a kettlebell workout!
(Pardon the blur, my 8 yo took my picture)
And almost in answer to my prayers about needing something NEW to mix things up, the GoodLife Fitness near work added a Friday lunch time Body Sculpt class! It’s a 40 min cardio class with light weights followed by 15 min of core work. I went the past two Fridays and greatly enjoyed it, though the hand weights they have only go up to 3lbs so I’m going to bring my own 5lb weights. With some exercises I do reach a muscular fatigue from the high reps with only a 3lb weight, but on other exercises I can definitely use some more resistance.
Last week I got off of my arse and planned out our meals and went shopping for the ingredients! I felt very very accomplished and it really reduced the dinner time stress – I knew that I had exactly what I needed to make a nutritious meal for the family in the house. We all ate well, and even all the produce that I bought disappeared!
Lately Amber has really gotten into doing floor puzzles. So we took her to WalMart and had her pick out some more. She absolutely loved being “spoiled” like that. Little does she know each puzzle only costs a few dollars. What a cheap way to bond with her! I’ve spent many an evening this week building puzzles as a family with the girls.
(Apparently wearing clothes is optional when doing puzzles)
This week Apple released their new operating system and two new lines of phones. I, being the Apple fangirl that I am, updated my iPad and iPhone as soon as I could. I also ordered my new iPhone 5s! I found someone to buy my old iPhone 5 (I’m actually making a profit by upgrading my device!), and have signed up for a new phone contract that increases my data from 1GB/month to 5GB/month for $25 LESS than what I have paid monthly #winning! I can’t wait for my new phone, it’s supposed to be delivered tomorrow, though from the contract agreement they sent me to sign, it seems that the Sales Rep helping me out confused SILVER with SPACE GREY. As I haven’t signed the agreement yet, would it be really rude of me to send the phone back if it’s the wrong colour?
(My unlock screen makes me want to go for a run)
With regards to iOS7, I’m not 100% sure that I like it or not. The new functionality they added in is great, and I’m onboard with the cleaner, more minimalist design, but some of the colours makes me feel like one of my daughters threw up a mouthful of skittles all over my phone – can you taste the rainbow?
And with that visual fresh in your mind, I bring you CAKE!!! It’s Mom It Forward’s 5th birthday, and they sent out a box to me to help them celebrate the anniversary of their first #GNO Twitter party! It’s been awhile since I was a panelist at one of their Girls Night Out Twitter parties, but there was a time when I was either an attendee or a panelist quite often. I remember clearly their first party ever – Brooke was a baby, hubby was travelling a lot and I was housebound with two young children. I looked forward to the Tuesday night twitter parties chatting with other women, and meeting new friends every week at 9pm. I should rekindle my #GNO twitter party going now that my Tuesday nights are free because FitBlog Chats are no longer around.
Happy Birthday Mom it Forward!
(Wow – I came up with lots of stuff this week!)
Have a great week every one!
What things are you grateful for this week?
