It’s been a while since I last participated in Thinking Outloud with Running with Spoons and I have to admit that I miss rambling on about nothing, so here goes:
I’ve meant to share a life lately post with you for the longest time so I thought I would combine it with Thinking Outloud because life lately has been insanely busy. Between work, softball games & practices, getting the kids to their day camps etc I feel like I’ve been thrown out into the waves and they’re constantly crashing down around me. Work is busy (but a manageable busy) and my home life is ridiculously busy. I’m somewhat surviving that, though the house is a compete disaster from us being in and out so much. I wish I could slow down the waves. Softball has about 5 weeks left and then we have a bit if a lull for a few weeks before we’re in the midst of hockey and softball rep tryouts.
That all said, Grocery Gateway, a grocery delivery service, has been a HUGE help. It’s just one of the things I’m doing to learn to surf along.
Fitness wise I’m doing great. My weight has pretty much plateaued – I’m not going up nor am I going down. Running three times a week instead of two is helping me to feel better emotionally – the more I run the better I feel, go figure! My fitbit aria scale says my body fat percentage is going down, and my fitbit blaze says my average resting heart rate has gone from 72 bpm in April to now 64 – 65 bpm. I would be EXTREMELY frustrated with the lack of progress if I didn’t have my watch or scale sharing data with me that says I’m getting healthier and fitter. I promised myself I would stick with the strength training and running routine that I’m currently in for three months to see how it goes. After that I may mix it up.
Did I tell you that I got a promotion?
I’m really really excited about it. It’s a one year contract to backfill a co-worker’s position that comes with more responsibility and being the go-to person to answer technical questions. I’m so thrilled to be considered a Senior and I’m learning a lot already. Which brings me to my next thought…
I’m no longer taking on sponsored posts, ambassadorships, campaigns etc.
This is another way I’m learning to surf. Doing sponsored posts was fun but I just don’t have the time to put in the amount of effort that sponsors deserve, nor do I need to take on more work – I have enough going on with the girls and their sports (I’m greatly enjoying coaching Brooke’s softball team and cheering on Sierra at her tournaments). While I have a blog, I don’t consider myself a career blogger. Instead my career is my job and I like it that way. I have no desire to give my job up to blog for a living. That said, I have one more post that I’ve already written so I’m not completely done yet.
I’m going camping this weekend!
Mid-July every summer I take my daughters camping with my University roommate, Tracy, and her kids. We go swimming, hiking, biking, fishing etc and eat copious amounts of marshmallows around the fire every night. I love camping and can’t wait to take the girls again for some girl bonding!
Two years ago:
I take a picture of the girls in front of my tent every year to track how much they’ve grown. 🙂
That’s about it for me this week as I can’t think of anything else to share with you.
What’s going on with you?
What’s new and exciting?
What are your plans for this weekend?
