Yeah, I know it's Tuesday, but I'm on vacation!!!
That said, if I don't publish my training plan for the week I won't do anything – I'm an all-or-nothing kind of girl. I have a hard time accepting that cut back weeks are ok, and that a cut back doesn't mean sit on my butt and do absolutely nothing. So here I am, on Tuesday morning, sitting back with my coffee by the pool brainstorming this week's training plan.
As I plan, there are a few things I need to keep in mind:
- I just finished three HARD weeks of training, and racing (I did a triathlon 2 weeks ago, and an obstacle race this past weekend).
- I have my GOAL triathlon in just over a week from now, and the Color Run this weekend.
- Just because I'm on vacation and have more time to train, does not mean I should go out, kill myself and over-train to the point of injuring myself, nor does it mean I should do nada, zilch, or nothing.
As I said, the past few weeks of my triathlon training have been great. I've been hitting each session, throwing all I have into them, and feeling absolutely exhausted by bed time. A great feeling if you ask me.
At the same time, I'm well aware that I need to taper down over the next two weeks – I have this crazy idea in my head that I can kick my 27 year old self's sprint triathlon time, but in order to do that I need to plan out the next two weeks carefully….
Here's the plan:
Monday: The dreaded “R” word… rest.
Tuesday: 5k easy run w the girls – Edit: I managed to get in 3k before Brooke's chain on her bike called it quits
Wednesday: Early morning spinning class (as in 6 am early!) maybe some evening open water swimming?
Thursday: Early morning BodyPump, followed by a day at the lake w the girls
Friday: 5k easy run w the girls
Saturday: The dreaded “R” word… rest.
Sunday: The Color Run
All in all I'm doing a lot of relaxing w my girls, enjoying the week (cheers!), and getting in a modest amount of training… It's a perfect week to pause & take stock of the things around me.
