Happy Monday everyone!!
(This is my Mamavation post for June 11, 2012.)
What an awesome week the past week has been ” summer is finally here, and my pool is open! I spent most of the week recovering from Sunday’s 75k charity bike ride, and only managed a short run on Tuesday and a BodyPump class on Wednesday. My brain wanted me to do more, but man that ride sure took a lot out of me! I was in bed by 9:30 most nights this past week. Then the weekend came and there was no more time for resting.
On Saturday we threw my oldest daughter a birthday pool party. It rained pretty much all day, but 7 year old little girls apparently think swimming in the rain is fun!
Then on Sunday my parents, my daughters and I participated in the Toronto Challenge 5k run and 1k walk. My parents did the 1k walk with my daughters:
They all had a blast, and I may have even heard then mumble something about doing it again next year!
While the kids were walking with my parents, I did the 5k run and set a new personal best! For the past few 5k races that I’ve run, I’ve danced around that 25 min mark, finishing in 25:25 and 25:26, but yesterday I finally broke that 25 min barrier and finished in 24:51! I was hoping that I could do it, but was a bit skeptical because I was still recovering from last weekend’s charity ride.
This week I’ll really need to listen to my body because I’ve really been beating it up, then if I’m kind to it, I can get right back into my hard training. Today my hamstrings and piriformis muscles HATE me from all of the racing that I’ve done over the past month (guys my A$$ hurts!), so my “training” plan for the sprint triathlon is waiting a week in order to allow me time to fully recover.
Here’s my plan for the week:
Monday: Spinning class
Tuesday: YogaFit class (instead of my usual run)
Thursday: Rest (instead of my usual run)
Friday: Swim laps
Sunday: 5k run
Have a great week everyone!
Question/Sharing: How do you stay cool during the summer? Do you modify your workouts to adjust to the heat?
